What I have to cut out

Hectic schedule means, less projects going and being hyper-focused. If I want to lose this weight, it’s going to be what I do when I get home from a long day of work. Cooking is what I’m going to do and then (unfortunately) finish the rest of my work. This way, I think, results will be more attainable and I will get there finally.

Maybe once it’s summer I can return to my other things, such as drawing, french and writing. But I’ve been putting off my health for far too long to let it get any worse than it has been.

I decided to change this around. I’ve been struggling with my weight and exercise for the past 2 years. I get greatly discouraged from my hurt foot because I can no longer run the way I used to.

I am seeing a doctor about it but because of my crazy hours at a new job, I don’t remember to call until after 5pm.

I will keep trying. I will. I am not going to get discouraged if some days I can’t work out or I don’t work out as much as I should. I should look at each day as a new chance, a new opportunity to be one step closer to how I used to be.

I hardly think about my age, I only think about how much I’ve learned so far and how I am so much better for it. I don’t really think about if a certain style is “age-appropriate” because my style has evolved with who I am.

Age should not be an excuse. I am only 26 years old but someday I will be 30, 40 then 50. I wonder sometimes, how certain people keep “fresh,” how they keep evolving and become masters of their craft and not be confined by the shackles of fear.

Youth is beautiful but age can be beautiful too, right?

Normally I know what I want to achieve in a chapter, and I have an idea about where events should take place and I’ll have some rough idea of the characters involved. But I might not have fully invented the place. And I certainly won’t fully know the characters. So in the first draft, I’m inventing people and place with a broad schematic idea of what’s going to happen. In the process, of course, I discover all sorts of bigger and more substantial things. Within those successive drafts, my characters keep on doing the same things over and over; it’s like some hellish repetition of events. Sometimes I get so busy, I forget that I need to live a little. I forget to indulge in my passions: my writing and my art. I forget my family, my puppy and my two adorable cats. I forget my best friends, my old friends who now question whether I care.

I do care. I really, really do.

When we lose ourselves in work, we forget what really is important and beautiful. If we stay in it too long, we just might lose and forget forever.
